My life as a blogger: 5 month update.

I can’t believe it been 5 months since started this incredible journey. I never would have thought have the things I’ve done were even a possibility. In 5 months I’ve had so experiences and met so many people both online and in real life. I’ve crushed every comfort zone and I can say I’m a blogger for a living!

I wake up every day excited to see growth!

I have readers all over the world,

I’m up for an editor/blogger position

And I’ve started my own social media marketing agency. I run and manage the social media accounts of small businesses and bloggers that just need a boost getting out there on social media. I love to promote the things I truly love and I love helping people. Not everyone understands social media or has their time to run their own so I figured “BATMOM TO THE RESCUE!”

I’m currently typing up the contracts for my client and for others. I know there’s 4 ways to make a living as a blogger

1. Sell a service (ebook, course)

2. Affiliate links

3. Brand collaboration

4. Ad’s

In order for affiliate links to really be benefiting you have to a larger audience than I have at this time. Ebook and courses.. well I need more time to learn my craft. What I can do is be a consultant for my friends that need help learning this world of social media and blogging.

I love waking up in the morning and seeing new opportunities in my inbox. I have a photo shoot to do for my baby a brand sent her clothing and I get to shoot my baby being cute in cute clothes today🤗

Every day I have comments and messages that make my day!

It makes me so good to know that post I write are motivational! I just purchased a book about being a blogger and thought “I can do that.. I’m Gonna do that!” I started all of this because I love writing and eventually I want to be able to work from home with my family. I want this to be my life forever. I finally feel like I’m actually doing what I want with my life. I make money from the post I create. I reach out brands, brands reach out to me. I collaborate with other small business owners and create opportunities for them as well. I reached out to a young woman named Ashley who happened to be from my and purchased a beautiful cup to be in the background of my Instagram photos.

Her shop is Something you wood love and this was the best $20 I’ve ever spent. Not only did I get an awesome prop for photos but I made a friend and hopefully got her a few costumers as well. I came into this thinking. Blogging was one thing. I’ve learned so much. This community is helpful (if you participate and contribute the blogging community will be good to you) I’ve met so many bloggers and read so many blogs with so many touching stories. I am so happy I made this choice. I’m building the foundation of a beautiful career and I can’t wait to see what happens next. In September I’m heading to Vegas to see PEREZ HILTON… all from blogging. I can’t believe my life now. I’m so grateful and blessed to each and every person that follows me, inboxes me, sends me an email. I just light up when I get a new follow, new comment, new subscriber or new opportunity. I’ve learned from all of this you can do anything you put your mind to and work at. I wanted to be a blogger, I’ve worked really hard and now I am a blogger. If this is where I am at 5 months… I can’t wait to see where I am in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years. I just have so much exciting and hope for the future. Anyone can do this.. I study YouTube and podcast all day and implement what I’ve learned on the weekends. It’s just been a beautiful journey. My friends and family finally understand this is more than a hobby to me. This is my way to something more, this is my way out.. out of my own way, out of my own self doubt. This is my future and control it and that’s why I’m excited. I created a way to take care my family from my phone. I’m a work-a-Holic and a perfectionist so blogging really makes for a good outlet for me 😅 I’m just beaming with joy and so happy to be here 5 months in… ready for year 10🙌🏾 let’s get it! Happy Sunday y’all!

  1. Shayla, you know how much I’m inspired by your journey. My blog is new and after reading how you dove in, and started figuring things out that leaves most of us new bloggers stumped, I dove in too. Even when I’m stumped I make myself write on a schedule now. Not only am I a blogger, I write fiction as well, so blogging gets the creative juices flowing in two different realms and it boosts my confidence to just keep writing. 🙂

  2. Wow, this is amazing! I really needed to read this tonight. I’ve been feeling like having all of this is almost unattainable, but you’ve really inspired me to pour myself into this and see what I can make happen.

  5. You’re amazing! And you have so much more obligations than I do, being a mom and all. You make me think, “If she can do it, then what’s stopping me?”

Thanks for the inspo. And I think it’s super cool that you share what you learn with us. That’s real empowerment. The very fact that you post unedited demonstrates how busy you’ve been and how excited you are to share with us. Whether inspite of the energetic rawness of your posts, or because of it, just know I’m totally digging it.
